Responsibilities at Plaisance Advisors: As the head and founder of Plaisance Advisors' investment banking practice, John leads and co-leads transaction teams as well as develops business for the firm. John has won numerous transaction-related awards and he frequently speaks on the topic of middle market mergers and acquisitions.
Advisory Experience: John has completed over 50 middle-market transactions ranging from exclusive sales for private companies and private equity firms to divestitures from publicly-traded companies and going-private transactions.
Past Affiliations and Civic Memberships: John began working in investment banking in 1991 when he joined Credit Suisse's Chicago office from the global accounting firm of KPMG. He has helped lead the growth and development of a number of investment banking firms around the world and in his native Chicago. Most recently as the co-leader of the investment banking practice of a Chicago-based consulting firm, John directed that firm's efforts in completing complex transactions for large, multi-national companies and increasing its presence in manufacturing-related transactions.
John is a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Morton Arboretum, the Art Institute of Chicago and is actively involved with The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (formerly known as the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business). John was actively involved in Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games.
Industry Expertise: John leads Plaisance's Industrial Growth group. He has completed transactions in nearly every manufacturing segment of the economy.
Academic Credentials: John earned an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in Accounting. He is qualified as a General Securities Representative and a General Securities Principal.
