Rick joins Plaisance Advisors after a successful 30 year career as the founder and CEO of RMS Technology Solutions, a leader in designing, installing, managing and maintaining digital surveillance systems and wireless video networks. At RMS Rick was responsible for the overall direction of the firm, including the decision to develop the now widely-emulated PODSS video surveillance system and directing the firm into new geographic areas.
Responsibilities at Plaisance Advisors: At Plaisance Advisors Rick provides strategic direction and insight to the firm’s leadership. Leveraging his experience as the (CEO)president of RMS, Rick works closely with other managing directors at Plaisance to market the firm’s services. He also actively participates in sale and acquisition advisory assignments.
Business Experience: While running RMS for 30 years, Rick led the company through three major transitions. Initially RMS sold and installed packaged general business management software for use in accounting, invoicing and manufacturing management. In the 1980s RMS developed a computerized order entry system for large, global organizations. RMS’ clients included General Electric, Westinghouse and United Technologies. RMS completed installations for these clients around the world.
In the 1990s, Rick focused RMS on system and network integration projects for clients such as British Petroleum, Kraft Foods, State Farm Insurance, Borg Warner and Bank One. These projects were completed throughout the United States and in many foreign countries.
Beginning in about 2000, Rick again changed the strategic direction of RMS as it began to leverage its strengths in information technology systems and network integration developed over the previous decades and pioneered the market for crime-fighting wireless digital video surveillance. Clients included major cities in the United States including Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Indianapolis.
Academic Credentials: Rick earned an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Aerospace Engineering.
